Barcaffè – SO GOOD, IT CAN PREDICT THE FUTURE
BACKGROUND
For decades, Barcaffè has been combining tradition with the contemporary to brighten the days of coffee lovers. Coffee is also linked to an ancient tradition that almost everyone in Slovenia and the wider Balkans region knows – the so called “šloganje” or fortune-telling.
IDEA
We travelled back 500 years, to a time when fortune-telling from Turkish coffee grounds emerged. We combined this centuries-old tradition with state-of-the-art technology – artificial intelligence – to create a smart fortune-telling tool.
EXECUTION
We implemented the tool on the https://slogaj.barcaffe.si website. All that the users had to do was to scan the Turkish coffee grounds in their cup and ask their question, after which they immediately received a personalised answer regarding themselves or the person the question was about.
We realised that users are very interested in their future, and often in other people’s futures too. That's why we gave them the opportunity to see the future of their favourite characters! We partnered with the most popular Slovenian TV series at the moment, Skrito v raju (Hidden in Paradise). We gave viewers the chance to see what the future holds for Lara, Črt, Jana, Mia and Mark. The users of the tool checked the future of the characters from Friday, when the last episode of the week was broadcast, until Sunday evening, when the next episode was available on the Voyo platform. At that point, they could see if our predictions had come true. And they did!
Barcaffè “šloganje” was also featured in a TV ad, on the radio, with the help of the forecasters we see every day when they announce the weather forecast, on the street, online, with influencers and on a special pack of Barcaffè Turkish coffee.
