GastarbAiter
BACKGROUND
In Slovenia, there are already over 130,000 foreign workers, meaning that over the period of ten years, the number has almost doubled. Often, foreigners are employed for low-skilled jobs and are unfortunately often target of abuse. The number of abuses is rising sharply, as foreign workers lack information, which makes them vulnerable.
IDEA
In the first planning phase of the project, the main objective of cooperation with the Delavska hranilnica bank was to use the high-tech corporate know-how to empower workers, for a change. This meant developing an application that would find answers to complex questions related to work in Slovenia, or creating a concrete digital solution to present empowerment when it comes to workers’ rights.
EXECUTION
GastarbAiter transforms the human intelligence of five advisors into a constantly accessible communication channel that allows foreign workers to make the initial contact with the support network in Slovenia; the app was developed on the basis of a simple user experience. It utilises the revolutionary AI accessibility of company OpenAI, which underpins the machine processing of more than 240,000 words from the records of the Slovenian Employment Relationships Act.
Using the free app, foreign and local workers can ask questions regarding work in Slovenia in 130 languages and instantly get simple and easy-to-understand information in their own language. In order to use the app, everything a user needs to know is how to use a smartphone, and everyone can simply contact legal experts at the counselling office for workers Delavska svetovalnica for specific legal advice.
